* تفسير Tafsir al-Tustari


{ سَنُرِيهِمْ آيَاتِنَا فِي ٱلآفَاقِ وَفِيۤ أَنفُسِهِمْ حَتَّىٰ يَتَبَيَّنَ لَهُمْ أَنَّهُ ٱلْحَقُّ أَوَلَمْ يَكْفِ بِرَبِّكَ أَنَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَهِيدٌ }

We shall show them Our signs on the horizons and in themselves...That is, death.He said:Death has a specific (khāṣṣ) and a general (ʿāmm) meaning. The general [meaning of] death is the death of the physical body (khilqa) and [its] natural form (jibilla). The specific [meaning]41 Al-Sajda (or Fuṣṣilat)179is the death of the lusts of the lower self (shahawāt al-nafs). But God, Glorified and Exalted is He, knows best. His words, Exalted is He:
