* تفسير Tafsir al-Tustari


{ وَمَا خَلَقْنَا ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ إِلاَّ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَإِنَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ لآتِيَةٌ فَٱصْفَحِ ٱلصَّفْحَ ٱلْجَمِيلَ }

…So be forgiving with gracious forgiveness.He [Abū Bakr al-Sijzī] said, ‘Muḥammad b. Ḥanafiyya related from ʿAlī that regarding His words, So be forgiving with gracious forgiveness, he said: “It is contentment (riḍā) without reproval (ʿitāb).”’ And Sahl said:[One should be] without resentment (ḥiqd) or censure (tawbīkh) after forgiving someone; this is to overlook [someone’s misdeeds] graciously (iʿrāḍ jamīl).His words, Exalted is He:
